ACOTUR Meeting to Promote Responsible Tourism in Colombia

At the beginning of September, our colleague Karol attended the annual ACOTUR meeting. ACOTUR stands for the "Asociación Colombiana de Turismo Responsable," the "Colombian Association for Responsible Tourism”, a coalition of Colombian tourism stakeholders working together for the sustainable development of the national tourism industry.

The ACOTUR-Community in Mocoa, Putumayo

By the way, Torsten was one of the co-founders of ACOTUR about 12 years ago!
😊

This multi-day event is now always held in an emerging tourist region of Colombia, which in earlier years often suffered from the violence of the Colombian conflict. This year, several hundred participants gathered in Mocoa, Putumayo. The department of Putumayo is located in southern Colombia and borders Ecuador. It is also considered a gateway to the Amazon.

A few months ago, we introduced you to an exciting tourism product in Putumayo: indigenous communities, untouched rainforest, towering waterfalls, traditional medicine, and unmatched biodiversity. Putumayo has a lot to offer...

This year, we were busy networking at the event, learning about new tourism products not only in the region but all over Colombia, listening to scientific lectures, and of course, sharing with other colleagues during dinner.
