Interesting flight connections
Colombia has improved a lot in recent years when it comes to international flight connections. Thanks to its strategic location in South America and the steady growth in tourism demand, the country has become increasingly attractive for airlines, business travelers, and leisure travelers.
Today, Colombia is very well connected
with Europe. There are daily flights from cities such as Madrid, Amsterdam,
Frankfurt, Barcelona, Zürich, Paris, Istanbul, and even Dubai. Madrid alone
offers more than six daily frequencies.
Although Bogotá remains the country’s
main hub, other important cities such as Medellín and Cartagena have also
strengthened their international networks significantly.
In this newsletter, we would like to
highlight a few new international routes and also remind you of some existing
connections that are not always well known but offer interesting possibilities
to combine Colombia with other destinations.
New routes
WestJet has announced a new route between
Medellín and Toronto starting April 28, operating four times per week with a
Boeing 737 MAX.
The Spanish airline World2Fly, which
already operates nonstop flights to Cali, has announced a new route to
Cartagena. With one weekly flight, they will connect Madrid directly with the
Colombian Caribbean using an Airbus A350. Starting the 3rd of July.
Colombia’s low-cost airline Wingo has
recently launched a new route between Bucaramanga and Aruba, operating twice
weekly and connecting the Santander region with the Caribbean.
Existing routes that are less known
Medellín – Lima
Operated daily by both LATAM and JetSmart, this route connects Colombia’s
second largest city with the capital of Peru, opening many opportunities to
combine both countries.
Cartagena – Lima
Also operated daily by LATAM, this nonstop flight connects the Colombian
Caribbean directly with Lima and is a convenient option for combining Peru and
Colombia in one itinerary.
Bogotá – Belém and Bogotá – Manaus
Both routes are operated by Avianca with A320 aircraft. Flights operate three
times weekly to Belém and four times weekly to Manaus. These connections create
interesting possibilities to link Colombia with northern Brazil and the Amazon
region.
Bogotá – Cusco – La Paz
Avianca also operates this flight with an A320 aircraft. This interesting flight connects two fascinating cities in Peru and Bolivia. It has a commercial stop in Cusco and then continues to La Paz. The entire route takes around six hours, including the stop in Cusco. Flights operate four times a week.
These developments show how Colombia
continues to strengthen its position as an important destination in Latin
America. Airlines are not only increasing frequencies but also connecting new
cities, further improving the country’s international network.
