Attractions Closures in Colombia – 2026

With the aim of supporting proper planning of your programs and trips to Colombia, we would like to share with you, in advance, information regarding the scheduled closures of certain tourist attractions during the year 2026.

These closures may be due to national holidays, maintenance works, or operational regulations, so we kindly recommend taking them into account when designing and confirming your itineraries.

Should you require further assistance or information about other tourist attractions, our team of Incoming Managers will be pleased to assist you and support you in the planning of your programs.

Museums

Gold Museum of Bogotá, Gold Museum Tairona in Santa Marta and Gold Museum Zenú in Cartagena:
Closed every Monday, including public holidays.

Botero Museum and Casa de la Moneda (Mint) in Bogotá:

Closed every Tuesday.

In addition, the above-mentioned museums will also be closed in 2026 on the following dates:

Friday, April 3rd (Good Friday); Friday, May 1st (Labour Day); Thursday, December 24th and Friday, December 25th (Christmas); Thursday, December 31st and Friday, January 1st, 2027 (New Year).

Natural Parks And Natural Sites

Laguna del Cacique Guatavita:

Closed every Monday. If Monday is a public holiday, the lagoon will be open that day and closed on the following Tuesday.

Tayrona National Natural Park:

Closed from February 1st to 15th, from June 1st to 15th, and from October 19th to November 2nd.
These closures are requested by the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta to ensure ecological recovery of the ecosystem.
All hotels within the park will remain closed during these periods. Additionally, all day tours to the park will be completely suspended.

Los Nevados National Natural Park:

There is no long-term total closure as in Tayrona; however, there will be periodic temporary closures of 5 working days to allow ecological recovery on the following dates:

  • After Easter Week: April 6th to 10th
  • From the third Monday of May to the following Friday (May 18th to 22nd)
  • From the fourth Monday of September to the following Friday (September 21st to 25th)
  • From the fourth Monday of November to the following Friday (November 23rd to 27th)

Only the Brisas sector will remain partially open on some of these days.

Puracé National Natural Park:

The park is currently experiencing temporary closures of several areas due to increased volcanic activity of the Puracé volcano, which has led to an Orange Alert being declared. These measures will remain in place until authorities indicate a reduction in risk.

Caño Cristales (Meta) – Sierra de La Macarena National Natural Park:

January 1st to June 14th and from November 16th to December 31st.
During this period, natural conditions are not suitable to appreciate the river at its peak.

Archaeological Parks

Ciudad Perdida / Teyuna (Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta):

Closed from October 1st to 31st (entire month). This closure is due to indigenous tradition and to allow ecosystem recovery.

San Agustín Archaeological Park:

Closed every Tuesday throughout the year.

Isnos Archaeological Park:

Closed every Wednesday throughout the year.

Tierradentro Archaeological Park:

Closed on the first Tuesday of each month.
