Birdwatching in Minca
Did you know that Colombia is the country with the greatest bird diversity in the world? Thanks to our privileged geographic location and the variety of ecosystems, our country has become the ideal destination for approximately 20% of the world's bird species to visit and inhabit our territory.
According to the Global Big Day, an event led by the Cornell
Lab of Ornithology where birdwatchers from all over the world come together to
document sightings over a 24-hour period, Colombia has topped this list for the
ninth consecutive year with an astounding total of 1,526 species recorded in
just one day.
This impressive achievement highlights the incredible diversity of our country, which is why we are excited to introduce a new birdwatching activity in Minca.
Here is the description:
“We
will leave at 6:00 am from our hotel in Minca. We will start our tour at 650m
altitude and reach an altitude of 800m in order to visit the best bird watching
spots around Minca. Our local guide will assist us and explain the different
types of birds we will find during our tour.
During the tour we will be able to find more than 20 exotic
species including the colorful toucans and hummingbirds.
This tour is of low difficulty (level 1).
Duration: 3 hours.
Ideal for: experts and amateurs; as well as for families with children over 7
years old.
Includes: transportation, insurance, entrance fees and binoculars.
Important: For hotels located outside the urban perimeter of Minca, a
transportation supplement must be included.”
