New Product: Visit to Fundación Loros - Volunteer for a day!

Today we would like to introduce you to a rewarding activity! Fundación Loros is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of psittacines (parrots, macaws, parakeets, and conures) through rehabilitation, reforestation, and community awareness. They achieve this through collaboration with various governmental entities to rehabilitate these animals, working alongside biologists and veterinarians to assess their health and behavior before release.

The foundation not only conducts veterinary evaluations but also enhances the release environment, considering climatic and educational factors. Their approach includes reforestation with native species of the dry tropical forest and promoting breeding through the installation of nests.

Additionally, Fundación Loros raises social awareness about biodiversity and conducts research in ecology and conservation, defining the success of a release by the integration of the animal into its reproductive population and its ability to produce offspring.

Here is the product description:

The Loros Foundation is a nonprofit organization passionate about the protection and conservation of parrots, macaws, and parakeets in the tropical dry forest. The workers protect 100 hectares of reserve land and are committed to planting 20,000 trees to restore biodiversity and mitigate climate change. During our volunteer experience in Villanueva, Bolívar, just 35 km from Cartagena, we will be welcomed with a typical local breakfast while learning more about the foundation's mission. We will have the opportunity to connect with nature and support the rehabilitation of parrots, macaws, and monkeys, as well as the reforestation and conservation of their habitat. We will take a short hike to the point where the birds are returned to their ecosystem. After our work there, we will be transported back to Cartagena.

Tour duration: 6 hours including transfers.
Recommendations: Departure time at 7:00 a.m. from Cartagena; bring sunscreen and insect repellent. During the rainy season, bring a poncho or raincoat.
Includes: transportation to and from Cartagena, guide, breakfast, travel insurance.
Not included: additional drinks and tips.
