Regular Closures of Tourist Highlights in Colombia
In Colombia, there are several tourist sites that are regularly closed. Here we provide you with an overview of the most important sites affected by these regulations.
Bogotá:
In Bogotá, some museums are affected. The impressive Gold Museum is always closed on Mondays. The Botero Museum is closed on Tuesdays.

However, the museums can usually be visited thanks to the flexible planning of our tours and our local guides in Bogotá. Both museums are located in the Candelaria old town.
Lagoon of Guatavita:
The Lagoon of Guatavita, located north of Bogotá and considered a sacred site of the Muisca culture, which lived in the area before the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century, is closed on Mondays. If Monday is a public holiday in Colombia, the lagoon will be closed to visitors on Tuesday.
Tayrona National Park on the Caribbean Coast:
The "Parque Tayrona" closes its doors to tourism three times a year at the request of the local indigenous population. These are measures to allow the local ecosystem to recover. The closures for 2024 have already taken place from February 1 to 15 and from June 1 to 15. Another closure is planned from October 19 to November 2, 2024. For 2025, we expect almost identical closure periods.

Isnos always close their doors on Wednesdays.
Tierradentro:
The Tierradentro Archaeological Park, with its impressive shaft tombs, is closed on the first Tuesday of every month.
Of course, your incoming manager will always keep you informed with the latest information on closures.
