New workshops in the city center of Bogota
Please allow me to introduce you to the interesting workshops held in the heart of Bogota. During a recent inspection in the "Calle del Embudo" near the historic site of "Chorro de Quevedo," our team discovered two engaging workshops.
Conveniently situated within walking distance from hotels in the old city Candelaria, these workshops, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours, delve into the realms of Chicha, beer, and chocolate. These workshops also serve as a delightful addition to any city tour itinerary.
Workshop: From Chicha, the "drink of the gods", to beer
Today we embark on a journey through the history of a beverage that already enjoyed great popularity before the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century. We start on foot from our hotel in the historic center of Bogotá towards the founding site of the city, the Chorro de Quevedo. Here we will get to know Chicha, a fermented corn beverage that was called the "Nectar of the Gods" by the Muisca indigenous people who inhabited Bogotá and its surroundings. Chicha used to be used in celebrations and rituals of the Muisca culture, later becoming a popular drink among the working class. From 1948 onwards, Chicha was condemned and displaced by the emerging beer industry and its different types of beer, and was banned for decades. Nowadays, Chicha is officially legalized and enjoys great popularity again.

Jeanet accompanied us during the chicha-workshop.
During the approximately 1.5-hour workshop, we will develop an understanding of the conflicting history of the beverage, understand the artisanal brewing process of Chicha and beer, and learn a lot about the respective ingredients. Of course, there will also be an extensive tasting.
Notice: This workshop is not suitable for children and adolescents as alcoholic beverages will be tasted.
Workshop: Cocoa and Chocolate - Contribution to Peace in Colombia
Today we embark on a journey through the history of cocoa, one of Colombia's most important agricultural export products. Thanks to the efforts of local producers, cocoa has been used as an alternative product for diversification of agricultural products and also serves as a substitute for illegal drug crops; therefore, cocoa is considered one of the driving forces behind the peace process in Colombia.

The long journey from the cocoa pod to a cup of hot chocolate.
We set off on foot from our hotel in the historic center of Bogotá to the founding place of the Colombian capital, the Chorro de Quevedo. During the approximately 1.5-hour workshop, we will develop an understanding of Colombia's conflictive history, understand the artisanal processes of chocolate making, and learn the stories of the communities that have transformed their lives through cocoa cultivation.
Of course, an extensive tasting of different chocolates with different cocoa contents is a must. After a cup of hot chocolate, we return to our hotel.
