Alternatives to Visiting Monserrate Hill in Bogota

Since the official end of the COVID-19 pandemic, we've noticed that Bogota's iconic Monserrate Hill, towering at an impressive 3152 meters, and an integral part of every city tour, experiences high visitor traffic almost every day of the week

Depending on the time of day and the day of the week, this can sometimes lead to longer waiting times at the cable car and cogwheel train station. To address this, we'd like to offer our guests several alternatives, which can be discussed individually between the knowledgeable tour guide and the guests on-site.

Alternative #1 in the City Center: Guadalupe Hill

A good alternative is a visit to the neighboring Guadalupe Hill, which stands proudly at 3,300 meters. It's located directly above the historic center of Candelaria. Here too, a church attracts numerous visitors on Sundays. To reach Guadalupe Hill from the historic center, a taxi or private transfer takes about 25 minutes.

Alternative #2 in the City Center: "Torre Colpatria" Skyscraper

Alternatively, you can visit the top of the 196-meter-tall "Torre Colpatria" skyscraper in the city center of Bogota (open only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). It's located in the modern city center and offers a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view. From the skyscraper's terrace, you can even observe details of everyday life within the city. The building was constructed starting in 1973 and was one of the tallest in Latin America at the time.

Alternative #3 in the North of Bogota: "La Calera" Viewpoint

For guests staying in the northern part of the capital, visiting the "La Calera" viewpoint is a great option. From here, you have a fantastic view of large parts of the city, particularly the north with its financial districts. The Bogota savannah appears gigantic from this viewpoint.
