Coffee Zone and Medellin Inspection Trip
Once again, we embarked on an 8-day journey across Colombia with almost the entire Kiubo team to find the best tours and hotels for you.
The inspection trip led us to the Coffee Zone in a VW bus from Bogota. From there, we explored the "unknown southeast of Antioquia" and then headed to Medellin. Afterward, we traveled through Honda, located on the Magdalena River, and made our way back up the Andes to Bogota. By the end, we had covered over 1000 kilometers.
Here, we want to share some highlights with you...

Visit to the village of Pijao and the Valley of Silence
We set out in search of the wax palms (palma de cera) of the Coffee Zone. Colombia's national tree can reach up to 70 meters in height and is an imposing sight. Near the tranquil and authentic village of Pijao, the only Citta Slow in Colombia, we found them after a short ride in a Willys Jeep and a 90-minute hike. This tour should definitely be allocated a full day.

In the next newsletter, we will send you the fully developed product. We promise!
Making chocolate at Finca Turpial
In close proximity to Pereira, located in the Coffee Zone, we discovered a small cocoa farm that produces organically grown cocoa pods. The friendly host, Pierre, shares his extensive knowledge of this healthy natural product, and we get to make our own chocolate. The motto is "do it yourself"! The tour of Finca Turpial is perfect for a half-day excursion.

We will also send you the fully developed product for this in the upcoming newsletter. We promise!
Social Gastronomy in the Moravia Neighborhood
In Medellin, we got to know the social gastronomy project in the Moravia neighborhood. Together with locals, we explore the Moravia neighborhood, which emerged on a former landfill in Medellin. We learn interesting information about the transformation of this once notorious neighborhood.

Afterwards, we cook a typical Colombian dish together with local women from Moravia. In the newsletter, we will provide a separate feature to present the project in more detail. The tour is available for booking and lasts half a day.
Boat tour on the Magdalena River in Honda
In Honda, located directly on the Magdalena River, Colombia's most important river, it is always worth taking a boat tour on the river. We encountered caimans, turtles, and a variety of different birds.
